Way back at Crisis 2015, I had a very long conversation with the chap and lady over at crooked dice stand about 7TV and the next version that was coming out,
I picked up a copy of this at Hammerhead back in Feb and finally a couple of weeks ago Mr Cooper took me through a game and I managed to snap a few pics,
I managed to get the minion starter set that I picked up painted up,
Sprayed red, Dry brushed and picked out the details,
I was pondering how to base them and Mr Smith gave me an idea of broken concrete type bases which I went with and the result is cracking!
So with the boys ready to cause mayhem and chaos in the name of the evil mastermind villain!
So Mr Cooper set up the 3x3 with the heroic British army in the top left corner and the evil guys in the bottom right, the mission was to grab the objective markers that were scattered around the table,
After seeing the army move out the minions split three ways with three to the left, three to the right and three up the centre, What could go wrong!
The view from the deployment zone,
Some sneaky chaps armed with a bazooka.....
Eyeing up the robot, and it didn't end well!
however on my right flank the two extras were going great clearing the way
It was looking quite good at this point...
Until the villain decided to have a pop at the bazooka team and then didn't move back into cover....
With the minions taking massive losses they decide to do one and leave the British army as the victors!
Gameplay -You generate a number of points at the start of the turn depending on the models that you've got on the board as well as what was left over from the previous turn so you can stash your points and do some cool stuff with them, To activate a model you spend one point and you get two actions. These being 2 short or 1 long.
So how do you kill stuff? Its a really simple system where you simply roll a D6 add your stat and try and beat your opponents D6+ defence roll, so an opposed roll but the defence roll is made first and then you can spend points to add additional D6's to the roll and you take the highest and for each 4+ you get and additional +1 to your score.
That's the mechanic! that simple.
The game lasts a certain amount of time depending on the size of the board and you flip a card an that will have an effect that you can use for your turn, once you run out of cards then your done.
Lastability - This is where its an interesting one as if your into your 70's type TV you can do all sorts of stuff and as long as you and your gaming mates are on the same page you can do pretty much anything! Example is that myself and Lee have gone for a planet of the apes type look with Lee as the apes and I'm running around with the humans. But you could do what ever you like really.
Models - Now this is where it gets really interesting you can use pretty much what ever you like! Ok so crooked dice do certain "counts as" models but this is completely up to you and the more unusual type models can be found and used within the system, On the facebook page some talented chaps have come up with stat cards for all manner of models, personally I'm pondering on a Predator stat card!
Overall I'm liking what I've seen of this so far and its going to be one to watch with regards to trying to shoehorn this into my already busy gaming schedule!
If your on the fence certainly give it a try at one of the many shows that crooked dice attend, I'll be grabbing some more bits at Partisan in a couple of weeks!

Gates of Antares - Ghar Reinforcements
After painting up the double starter set for the Ghar, I decided it was time for some more toys for them,
So I've painted up a bomber unit and a flitter unit,
I've a command crawler and some outcasts to splash some paint on as well so hopefully these will follow up soon for this month.
I'd love to show a complete army picture however the Ghar are on loan to warlord!
However with the new stuff coming out for the GoA system I'm finding it hard not to go and collect a third faction!

Panzerfaust - Paint the SkogTrolls
Just before Salute I was over at Hysterical Towers and managed to snag myself some of the new Skogtrolls from the Bossman Rob,
In the usual Anton manner I asked how Rob wanted them painted and he blasted me a few pics to have a look at
So the artwork for the trolls, gives a "feel" for the vision
and a couple of pictures of Norwegian uniforms that the trolls would be wearing.
So to start off with I cleaned up the models and to be honest the vent ports and little flash took no time at all, Then with the individual bits all cleaned up I stuck the tails on and they were ready to prime unlike Forgeworld resin that needs cleaning with warm soapy water RAH Resin needs none of that and all the models that I've had from Hysterical Games I've assembled and primes with no issues what so ever!
The initial colours to go onto the model was a 50/50 (ish) mix of Luftwaffe camo green VAL 823 with green grey VAL70886
Once this was dry a bit more green grey was added and then a wash of green (Biel-tan) was splashed over,
once the wash was dry then I re highlighted the uniform once again, and picked out the detail on the webbing and rifle with flat earth VAL 983, a bit of khaki added for the highlight
I continued with the khaki for the skin and tail,
for the "furry" bits I went with stonewall grey VAL 72049, the metal on the guns were painted in gunmetal grey VAL 70863.
the eyes and tongue were painted red and the teeth off white. The boots I mixed black and white for a darkish grey.
For the highlight on the skin I used dwarf skin VAL 72041 now I simply picked out the high points and rough blended the dwarf flesh on, its a bit of a weird way to work and I was going in blind with this one as a "bugger to it" technique and was wondering how it would come out!
Once it was all dry I used a soft wash on all of the model par the uniform and left it to dry, I picked out the eyes and tongue and did the piping around the sleeves and the collar and that was it, bit of basing required and jobs a good un!
However Mr Alderman has also managed to splash some paint on his trolls.....
I've simply lifted this from the facebook page and the above picture doesn't do them justice they look superb!

Deadzone Mk2 - All the shiney stuff!!
So deadzone Mk2 landed on my doorstep yesterday.
In the usual Anton tradition I've had a good dig through the toys and taken some pics for the fine people of the internet!
so starting off with the metal models
marauder chap
some rebel scum
more rebel scum
and some more!
enforcer chap
blaine on his jet bike, made out ofresin Plastic! and its really quite nice!
vermin chap again out ofresin Plastic!
enforcer jet bikes, so many bits I've let them in the package! but they are already cut off the sprue which is quite unusual but really good
asterain guys, quite a bit flash on these and where the bow meets the hand seems quite delicate can see them breaking off
now this bad boy is for the plague, 4 piece kit againresin Plastic! and I decided to bang it together as its so cool!
vermin plastic's really crisp and nice,
more vermin plastic's again look great can't wait to see what these look like assembled
legs come in a little bag!
more vermin inresin Plastic!
the support weapon for the vermin, this goes together really really well,
some old school vermin out the now no longer used plastic resin stuff!
plastic forge fathers
with legs to go!
enforcer pathfinders, again look really good!
the new battle zone bits, come de-sprued which is good and the quality of the plastic is far better than the previous stuff
even the connectors are de-sprued!
the mouse mat type play sheet
books are really good quality, lets hope the proof reading is better than some of the previous stuff that mantic has produced
tokens, good looking print and the cardboard is fairly decent quality
the paper play mat that you get in the basic game, pretty naff to be honest Isla will be getting this do do what ever she like with it
and finally the dice, white comes in the standard game and the blue I'm assuming is a KS special just means that I can run demos no worries!
So overall with deadzone Mk2 I'm really impressed compared to some of the stuff that Mantic have done in the past the new plastics look bang on and theresin Plastic! is really good!
All I need to do now is get a few games in and I can see how the system has changed.
