Back from the dead!

Well......

Its been a while eh!

Rather than trying to play catch up over the last 7 months, I've started to compile the end of year review so stand by for an update in a couple of weeks.

In the mean time take it easy.

Playing catch up! - April Pledge

So its been a while since I've last updated the blog so I'll keep this one short and sweet with regards to the Pledge for April..

Bought - 80

Painted - 95

Difference + 15

so normally in April the pledge takes an absolute battering due to going mental at salute however this year was a little different!

Painting wise I did some Rebels for Star Wars legions, a load more necrons for 40K and Big Joes' first batch of his Cygnar army,

So starting off with my love child that has completely escalated out of control my necrons!

This is just the painted stuff, bear in mind that I've "acquired" 4 sets of the forgebane box set so have a tone of wraiths, immortals and guard to plough though add on a couple of units that I got from forgeworld its clocking up to about 4k even before I've added in the cool toys!

However I think I've sussed out how to do metal.

So onto the flavour of the moment Star Wars Legion!

With every man and his dog going empire I decided to go against the gain and go rebels, so a quick and dirty paint job on this bad boys and they are good to go! I just need to splash some paint on Luke, the air speeder and the 3 at-rt's and its all peachy. Then the long waiting game comes for the next lot of addons from FFG.

And finally....

The first batch of Joe's warmachine stuff, I figured that I might as well get the boring bits done first then realised that all of it boring ;)

So that's what I've been up to for the last month(ish) not my usual standard of pumping out models and the like but I've so much RL stuff going down I'm trying to keep everything balanced.

As always ta for reading and take it easy!

Chillcon & The pledge!

Well once again the Leicester Phat Cats were on the road bringing models to the masses and in this particular case it was Chillcon Sheffield,

So this was the second year of the show and we were kindly invited back up. This time round we managed to snag two tables and with Lee and Pete running Blood and Plunder on one table and some of the guys from the Phosphex Party running a 30K on the other.

So the 30K boys doing the windmill with the about 2k's worth of man dollies!

Gentlemen start your engines.......

Stay in formation and follow my lead....

So whilst the 30K table was blowing the crap out of each other on the other side you had Lee once again doing the business with his stunning looking table.

A selection of flags that Pete did for Lee's ships, for some reason Jihadi Ali has a particular fetish with these?

So it wasn't just the Phat cats two tables, the variety of games was really good with something for everyone!

A very British civil war game using the black ops rule set

8th Ed 40K

Guildball

Horizon wars, didn't get a chance to really look at this but it had mechwarrior style robots!

now this one was breath taking, a massive walking dead table the attention to detail was mind blowing!

I had a really good chat with the guys running the table and they were really sound guys!

In the second room this one drew my eye straight away mainly due to the massive Gargant in the middle and as I'm waiting for the Ork codex this made me a little hard!

the theme of the game was a deathrace orky themed game where each player is given a kit and they convert it up as the see fit and then arm it to a home grown rules pack,

some historical type stuff didn't really get in to see who was slapping whom

The next table to that I was "oooohhhhh" was the madmax type game, the car conversions were mind blowing!

this reminded me of Freeway fighter cover, I bloody loved it and the game quite rightly got game of the show!

Some SLA action going on, can't wait for this to rock up, Still waiting on the KS rule book sadly!

again another table that looked superb!

a great looking sci-fi table again not sure on the system but the overall look was good.

And the usual "haul" not a massive amount as I'm trying to cut back on too much random crap, I've a feeling that Salute this weekend will be similar! however I'm going with only a couple of items that I'm looking for so god knows what could happen!!

So onto the Pledge!

March...

Bought 43

Painted 50

Differance +7

its a postive but thats all matters! I've been blasting through necrons with the release of forgebane I've managed to snag a number of the necron half of the box, basicly I'll never need any more wraiths or immortals!

Monday 19 March 2018

Necrons!

Well talk about being well timed!

Not only have I painted the necrons in time for Forgebane, the codex has been leaked looking to drop at the end of the month!

So from the initial batch I've now added quite a bit.....

so I've added another 22 warriors, 10 immortals, 5 death marks, 9 bases of scarabs an overlord and a converted cryptec

the scarabs are way out of production forgeworld models, had these for a while to be honest so good luck finding these, I've another batch in my stash!

to mix up the warriors a bit more I got some female torsos and used a bits service for the legs and guns, cost more than a box of 12 but I figured why not!

the death marks I kept with gauss as I like the guns and they aren't too shabby in the index.

the converted cryptec I got from the same place as the female torso's but of arm swapping and it was good to go!

for those interested I got the bits from these guys,

wargameexclusive.com

turn around was fairly quick to be honest and the quality is spot on.

points wise (until the codex drops) this gives me about 1300ish, all I need to do is take the warrior units up to 20 man units and then start picking up some funky toys which no doubt will come from the forgeworld range as they have some lovely models!

mind you that not forgetting all the bits I'll get from forgebane and ebay will be flooded with necrons with people selling there left over bits!

The Pledge!

Well in the words of Rastamouse Whatgoon!

Well for most of Feb I was adding to my necrons and doing some buildings ready for a demo board for Hammerhead which then was cancelled due to the snow!

The theme of the board is black and white inspired by the comics, Lee's idea and to be honest a bloody good one at that!

So the first two test buildings were done and it was a matter of rinse and repeat for the other three,

Lots of black and white!

Once they are all sorted then I'll do a complete show of the table, Hopefully I'm able to get to the second date of hammerhead!

The necrons I'll show off at a later date as I've just finished off the last batch ready for the codex to drop. So far I've focused on the troops and basic stuff nothing too fancy.

However the other thing that has been stealing my time has been my super shiney 3D printer!

So after going back to school I've been running this all week and getting some great results from it!

this was one of my first prints, and learnt quite alot from it to be honest,

the desert building took ages however it looks sweet, all I need to do is suss out a way of finishing them off so that I can remove the printed lines

the devil is in the detail and even the doors look great!

So with all this distraction and the fact work has been "entertaining" the pledge is in an interesting place...

Bought - 27
Painted - 94

Difference + 67!

what a come back! super happy with that and hopefully March will be just as successful with the positive numbers!
