I had a new range appear from one of my supplier, Warmill terrain I've seen this stuff kicking about on the net so I figured I might as well give a try and see the quality etc of the stuff,
So the front of the box,
and the bits that you get inside,
so the instructions, double sided and fairly easy to follow
and the actual MDF precut pieces
so the dry fit and no issues at all, some of the bits do fall off so I used PVA to glue mine together and let it dry whilst I went out on the razz!
one of my infinity models so people can get an idea of size, and I managed to splash some paint on it,
might do a bit more weathering, but I'll see how I feel on that on, for a line of sight blocking terrain its a nice bit of kit and some of the variations that they do are nice as well,
overall I'm very impressed, and with the up and coming "man cave" this stuff will make a 4x4 sci-fi skirmish table.

Infinity - Conquering the Caskuda!
This is my attempt at a "how to" for the assembly of a Combined Army Caskuda,
So after cracking the box there was a fair few bits! and no instructions!
After cleaning off the flash etc, I found the fingers for the left arm,
Whilst that was drying after some playing about stuck the "groin" to the upperbody
Now it took me a while to suss out what these were for...
The heals of the feet! again bang them on no worries!
Whilst I was on the legs I put the go faster turbo booster jets?
Then slapped the head on, and its at an angle so go with the flow on that bit,
then it was just a matter of putting the legs and arms onto the torso, there are 3 little bits that you stick on the arms and the forehead but there fairly simple, I used the time tested technique of superglue and blu-tack.
The only issue I have with this kit is that the 40mm base that comes with it is a joke! I ended up making my own from a template of a dreadnought base,
The reason for all the rubble on the base is in the fluff these things deploy as a meteorite and then emerge fighting, so I figured I could make a funky looking base.
I got some plastic with steel decking imprinted on it cut out a circle and then cut into the middle leaving a bit so that I could bend it in to look like an impact.
So the base coating done,
The very boring part of the highlighting part way through
and suddenly its nearly done!
And the 99.99% finished model, just another wash of green on the orange and its good to go!
the wings were a nightmare and kept breaking off and the gluing of the plastic see though bits wasn't as bad as I thought.
Build wise its not too bad you just have to take your time, paint wise it was a bit of a drag and being quite organic looking was quite a challenge but I went for a look that I can now use as a Nurgle deamon prince ;)
So the only thing that I'm gonna have to suss out is how to transport the bloody thing now!

Infinity Combined army.....
A couple of the chaps at the local gaming club are always banging on about getting some games of infinity in, but as always never happens due to SMS (shiny model syndrome)
So with the new campaign book coming up soon I thought that I should get back in on the action! and I've had a combined force kicking around for a couple of years now, and with trying to cut back on the random model buying they would be a nice little side project to stop me getting sidelined with all the cool stuff out there!
So the combat group,
Normal grunt chap, the bases have since been done so that they look like decking,
Spectro killer, lovely model to paint and with the tips I picked up from the WAMP/Golem painting session put those new skills to the test,
An angry looking combat chap,
The only thing I've got left to do is the TAG and I'll cover that in my next post,

Saga, Vikings on tour....
With my first game of Saga looming I've decided to give the Vikings a lick of paint,
So the group shot,
warriors at the back and hirdmen at the front, with the army deal that I got from gripping beast I got some shield transfers and used these on the hirdmen so that they stood out compared to the normal chaps,
and the other lot
the Boss man with the standard,
These were really nice to paint as I only had 30 odd models to do I could spend a bit of time on them rather than just cranking them out like I did with the celts, the shield transfers and flag are really detailed and went on no problems, with the flicking that I've been doing with the Saga rule book the system looks like its gonna be alot of fun, and the naked nutters are solid in combat but do get a reduction in armour as they are wearing bugger all!
The other thing that I'm trying to do is tie up some loose ends with nearly finished projects and did the converted tractor muls for infinity,
there a fairly basic paint job, but there good enough for the table top,
other side,
so I've only a handful of models to finish for the infinity, a big robot thing for d-wars and then I'll see what else takes my fancy, I have picked up another system in the form of....
Now I first saw this back at Salute earlier this year and didn't really look at it as the £45 price tag for the book was beyond ridiculous! however warhammer historical are having a half price sale on some of there books so for £24 quid I figured why not and one of the local guys had seen a game being played and was raving about it!
only problem being its aimed for 20mm, now I've no idea about manufacturers etc.. but looking around the plastic solider company is looking like its gonna be at the top of my shopping list, of maybe good old airfix? Anyone else know any recommended 20mm or 1/72 models?
On a final note the "re-paint" of the necrons came in split between the purple and devlin mud, so I'm gonna have a crack using both! more on this another time....

Bushio Savage wave done & something "extra" special......
So after a mental painting session I blasted though the Bushido models really quick! now all I need is to get a game in and I'll be sorted!!
so after a bit of feedback from the Bushio forum chaps I put a bit of orange into the larva and I'm quite happy with it now, the arc's are marked up and all I need to do is hit the crew with some anti-shine for protection, it has to be a first though that I've painted the entire collection for a game that I've only played via a demo!
Close up of one of the Bakemono,
and another one,
and the big boy himself, the Blue skin has gone down quite well, so all I need to decide is to either carry on with the blue for a uniform feel or break out the random colours like on my chaos spawn and make peoples eye bleed with the rainbow colours!
So the something "special" whilst at expo I had a chit-chat to the guy who runs simple miniatures and when I asked about trakor units for infinity he had no idea when these were going to be released, and as some of the models for my faction still haven't been done I figured it might be a while so I've decided to make my own!
the REM unit are from the nomad range and one of the guys wanted certain ones that came in a box of two, so rather than having two kicking about I went halves and took the two that he didn't want.
I've done two different looking units to represent the two types of trakor unit in the game, I've not decided which one will be what yet, but I'm sure I'll get some "suggestions" from the local chaps!
the missile pods are from a GW terminator, cut in half and slapped on the side,
the small missile pods are from exodus games, basically epic scale stuff that I had a spare one of, again the centre section cut out and simply stuck together, the round thing above the head is a bit from the other REM that I stuck in there as a filler and an air intake to basically look cool!
Side profile.
So the other one, bit more hacking on this one. the round bits got snipped off the back of the REM and the side armour cut back so that I could fit the huge rocket launchers on, which are 15mm battlefront nerbelwefers that I picked up cheap from ebay
front shot
side profile, I'll more than likely paint these in either a russian green or maybe the original nomad colours to represent the Adriana's "borrowing" the REM's for a weapon test bed?
As I was in a converting mood, I decided to throw some counts as hunters for the epic marine army that I posted up a month or so ago,
so the turret is from exodus wars, but actually made of two, one half of a whirlwind type turret and the other being a anti-aircraft mini gun I made sure I kept the radar dome to give it the AA feel,
the rhino body is simply an old school plastic one with the rear hatches on the top cut down so the new turret sits better.

Emperors Children, Ariadna's & the 2011 "project"
well the huge chaos army that I've been collecting for the last 4 years is slowly start to come to a end I managed to continue with the Emperors Children and finshed the choosen...
not a great deal of conversion work in fact really simple, khorne beserker legs, normal chaos marine arms and torso, metal emperors children shoulder pad, some maxmini heads (linky) and the jobs a good un!
I also did a random squad leader at the same time not allocated to a unit within my army but I figured I might as well do him so that he doesn't feel lonely ;)
So Chaos wise all I've left now is...
Slannesh lord
Iron Warriors lord
2 nurgle dreadnoughts
1 slannesh dreadnought
1 nurgle rhino
1 tzeentch rhino
3 vindicators (1 tzeentch, 1 nurgle, 1 slannesh)
1 defiler
so not alot really considering what I've managed mainly in the last 2ish years, I'm in no rush to paint them I'll use them to break up other projects that I've got going,
I've also managed to get another batch of infinity done for my Ariadna's
so in the picture you've all specialist troops, add these to what I've already got painted...
and its a fair bit, I've only a couple of bits left now for the infinity and this lot is done then it'll be on to the arab's on bikes, at some point!
so the 2011 project....
After picking up the black powder rules I've decided to take the plunge into that era that you assocate with men with a "few extra pounds" sporting a unfasionable beard in a lovely knitted jumper, yes Anton is going Napoleonic!
with the what could be the most amount of models I've ever purchased in a single month I've a huge pile to paint now...
so the French....
4 boxes of infantry Perry Minitures
2 boxes of infantry Victrix
1 box of old guard Victrix
1 box of heavy cav Perry Minitures
1 cannon Perry Minitures
2 blisters of French Commanders Victrix
that gives me a staggering..
288 infantry + 60 old guard
14 cav
1 cannon and crew
4 commanders
totalling 367 models! thats more than half of what I bought and painted in 2010! and all for £140! so cheap!! which is actually about the same price as the transports that I need for the black templar army that I was planning on doing (4 crusaders)
now I've decided to use the army painter dip for these guys as there is no way that I'm going to get these all done before I lose the will to live, I've already questioned some of the other guys who use this down the local club and I'm confident that I'll be able to complete within 3 months assuming the queen doesn't demand too much of me but with a smile like...
its like a siren of slannesh pulling me away from the painting table, so operation "paint like a madman" will be done inbetween "play" sessions!!
