Here comes the chaos..... back from the dead!!

So after a week of doing various "family" stuff with the other half being off work and the Golden Child's first birthday to plan and sort out, I've not really done that much painting this week,

but what I have managed to get done I'm quite happy with, I've managed some leaders for the up and coming warhammer chaos army starting with the lord....

I found this bad boy kicking around in one of my bits boxes and figured I might as well use him as my lord, turns out that this is a limited edition  gamesday miniature and after being told this found him on ebay for about £40!

I've angled him up so that you can actually see the front rather than a shadow,

the view that I'll see the most of, I'm quite happy with the red of the cape but I did have quite alot of practice with the sann hann!

The "newish" plastic chaos scorcer painted up to please Kurt... (the first game I used him he kicked ass!)

As always I've been keeping my finger on the geek pulse and spotted this cracking bit of kit on Ebay and ended up paying less for it than I would if I bought a baneblade brand new!!

In the traditional "Anton" fashion no sooner had I unpacked it I'd already applied the initial coat and done a heavy dry brush....

then I started to ponder at it looking at the cannon and thinking that it could be better, so out came the pliers and off came the cannon to be replaced with one that I picked up a while back from the states, that same evening Coop's saw the about picture and felt that it wasn't "spikey & Chaosy" enough now I'm not a massive fan of the spikey chaos but I agreed on the chaosy factor there was some elements in there but not enough for grand father nurgle to give it his blessing!

So some random bits and green stuff later I ended up with...

I'll continue to take snaps at each stage but it's going to be my "reward" project so that I can take my time on it and not just pump it out, but I'll only count it as one model towards my "pledge"

Whilst I was down the club on Thursday I wandered into the kitchen were we tend to mooch whilst the ninja's finish beating the crap out of each other and seen Coach & Sonny playing warmachine on the table and the best use of a paper plate as a damage grid for his jacks!

As a bit of a break from all of the SOTR that I've been playing recently I got a text from Nick saying that he was starting a Cutlass campaign and did I want in... stupid question really ;)

So after convincing Coops to play Cutlass rather than flames it was me and Cooper against Nick's Superhard crew and we was after his loot!

After some very un-orky sneaking through the trees I decided to go for it and paid the price with most of my gang getting the be-jesus kicked out of them in combat and the Orc captain losing his had to a serious injury...

But even with his hand lost Captain (insert name here) will be back to lead his crew to victory!

I've not really made much of a start to the secrets of the third reich themed board, but I picked up aload of these pallets so can make some real cool scatter terrain,

So the doomsday clock is no longer an issue as I've managed to get all my bits done well in time and as for the pledge thats well under control for this month!

Bought - 17

Painted - 49
Difference + 29

I'm going to pick up yet another system at Derby at the weekend in the form of Saga from gripping beast, basicly 28mm vikings on the rampage.. carn't wait!! and more than likely some MERC's stuff as well.

Nurgle Firepower..... dreadnought style

Well this has to be a first...

I've said I'm going to actually do something and I have!

The pair of nurgle dreadnoughts are done, I've used the same tried and tested technique that I used for the whole of the deathguard army and they look pretty sweet, I'll admit I was a little worried that they might turn out paints as there isn't that much "green" armour compared to normal marines so I decided to go down a brass route for most of the metal and throw in the odd boltgun metal bit to break it up.

the banner on the converted dreadnought I've left blank but I'm thinking maybe 13 in roman numerals on one side and a off set chaos star on the other in a nice contrasting colour but we'll see what happens with that,

 anyway enough of the whaffling..

the "boys"

the business end, loads of detail on these forgeworld models and great fun to paint

does my bum look big in this?

The power claw on this is really nice,

and even with the pooling of the inks it adds to the decayed look of nurgle, result!

so off to a pretty good start towards "the pledge" with the flying skip getting its MOT this month the likely hood of it actually passing is slim to none, so no shiney new models for me me thinks unless I either win the lottery or some one asks me for some more commission work!

But on a positive note that'll put well back on track for the last couple of months and with Abbadon, The cutlass gang on the painting table they shouldn't take too long to sort out, along with the looming target date of June for my first game of hail Caesar I need to crank out some celts too!

Could be a busy month!

And finally Happy birthday to my little sister!! (because she reads my blog apparently!)

(this was a long long time ago!!) Hence the slimness of us both!

Forge World Blight Drone & Noise marines & WIP

Hi People,

Bit of a update with what I've been up to recently, Its been a productive Month so far to be honest!

So since I pumped out the firestorm armada I've been like a mad man on an illegal class A! ( and for those who have lead a sheltered life then drugs are bad! so well done)

So onto the production line....

The Blight Drone that I picked up from the forge world open day, not I've used the same techinque as the death guard and tried to make it look a bit more "battered" than the average death guard model,

Close up of the business end of the drone!

Close up of the fans

The second noise marine squad done, I've tried to match the paint scheme to the test squad,

And the WIP the third squad of noise marines on the table and ready for the purple ink before the detail of the gold and the like!

Now this chap is going to be my next HQ I'm getting a a bit bored of running with Typhus and I'm sure the guys that I play against would like to see someone else to blow the be-jesus out of, But thanks to Dustin I've discovered that Abbaddon is immune to instant death but not to getting there souls sucked out by a force weapon, but hey there you go you carn't everything!!

So comment's as usual please,

Thanks Ant!!

Nurgle daemon prince finished? No Way!

Hey up guys & gals hope your all good today!

So I decided to pop an update up before Spencer started giveing me "those" looks!

I've been cracking on with the firestorm armada ships, the crusiers are done and the captial ship is coming along nicely, once I've got the captial ship done I'll get some pictues posted up.

So I've finally got the nurgle daemon price finished that the guys from the club got me as I stepped down as chairman after 7 enjoyable years, now I've been doing this on and off for the last couple of months I wasn't too sure how to tackle him as its a really cool model and I didn't want to fuck it up, so after some thinking I decided to finish him off and start using him on the table, the bit that took the longest was sourcing a base for him!

The normal 40mm base was way too small so trying to find a dreadnought size base was a right pain in the arse, so I used a flying base! the curve of the base made no differance as he was posed with his legs,

The actual painting of the model was done the same as the death guard and the plague bearers so that it kept in with the theme,

Ta Da!

close up on the sword I could have spent ages on that but decided I wanted it dirty and bloody!

I was impressed by the sculpting on his back, really liked the detail, I'm thinking of putting a bank of jump packs from the new blood angel golden boy nipple squad, and strapping them togeather like a huge clump, bang some magnet love on there and the jobs a good un!

upper body,

Right arm detail  the fly is built into the wrist and is quite cool,

So there it is, only 2 models away from "finishing" my death guard, but I did pick up a blight drone at the forge world open day and as they are at Salute at the end of this month I'm looking to get some extra armour and nurgle doors and emperors children or world eaters doors for a couple more rhinos for the masses.

So will the legion finally be finished?  no bloody chance! with the rumors that I'm getting from a fairly decent source we should be looking at a new chaos codex end of this year start of next year maybe and they sound filthy! all I want personally is eternal warrior of the named heros and 2 firepoints from the rhinos and I'd be happy with that!!

Whilst I was waiting for the base to dry I managed to crank these out as well,

These are for a game called uncharted seas, and these are the iron dwarves newest invention the submarine, now these were dead easy and I've had them sitting around for ages so was glad to finally get them done!

any way I'm off to cook dinner via MacDonalds so cheers for reading and feel free to leave any comments below,

thanks,

The Path of the Seer is a dark road....

Well I've been doing something that Ive been advised not to do many many times before... Thinking!!

After the shocking game against the guard with the Flying Elven Circus (known now as FEC) and spending many many minutes looking at blogs to do with these toughness 3 hells angels, it seems that more is less?

Right one converted Farseer with his mates,

the "family shot"

The boss man himself, dead easy conversion for Farseer Buck and his buddies...

Shining spears upper bodies,
Shining spears exarch pole thingy for the back of the bike
the sword arm on this chap was from the autarch
and thats it!

Looking out side it appears that the powers that be don't want me to get these painted as the weather is pants! I might have to deploy the brolly!

So HQ for FEC is now...

Farseer  - Jetbike (doh!) Doom, Guide or fortune? not sure
Warlocks x 5 Jetbike, 2x singing spear 2 witch blades (one not sure about), Powers are.. 4x destructor 1x enhance

points wise no idea but it'll be pricey!

now I didn't think of this myself! and add that with the fantastic blogs/tactics from

saimhann.blogspot.com
raptor1313.blogspot.com  (some real dirt on this one!! jesus wept! LOLOLOL)

I'm sure my next game will be much better and I might actually be able to make Chris sweat! aka suneokun which is Chinese for "I love mortars" you've never guess it ;)

any way before I go off on one of my sarcastic but harmless tangents the Pimped up ride for Typhus is nearly done! as long as I can keep away from COD MW2 I'll be fine but it is bloody good!!

Overall I'm quite happy with it I didn't want to screw it up and all that but after the success of the titan I decided to go for it and the conversion part of the land raider I did to chill out after work, I don't feel its OTT but just enough to prove that its nurgle!

If anyone knows of any decient "how to greenstuff" site then point me towards them, I want to work out how to do screaming faces onto flat surfaces as jolly and nice as that sounds! LOL this might be for my Slannesh  eldar!

I still need to the little bits like the eye's where the lights are and finish off the weathering around the tracks but thats a 5 min job if that!

Cheers for reading!!

Monday, 9 November 2009

Well I’ve been slacking good and proper after my recent paint-a-thon, I’m gonna blame it all on Jay for sorting out the xbox live thingy for me!!

However I’ve managed to get the landraider done and dusted so just over a fortnight to go from half stuck together to fully painted is not bad at all,

All I’ve got to do is weather the tracks and I’m thinking of getting some of the MIG pigments so I can do some rust effects on parts of the landraider, i.e. use it as a test bed ready for the nurgle style rhinos that I’ll be getting to give the army some speed!!.

I'll get some photos up soon once its all done

In the meantime I’ve got the following left…..

2 squads of death guard
2 dreadnoughts
1 deamon prince
5 nurgle terminators
1 nurgle sorcerer

I’m so close to finishing what I’ve got I can smell it!! And it’ll be the first time ever that I’ve managed to get all my stuff painted without buying more stuff!!

So the whole army will look something along the lines of….

HQ

Typhus
Deamon Prince, Mark Of Nurgle, Wings, what ever power is funky!

Elites

Chaos Terminators 4 man squad 3 champions with lighting claws, 1 normal bloke with heavy flamer, mounted in a landraider
Chaos Terminators 5 Man squad 1 with Reaper autocannon, the rest with various weapons
Chaos Terminators 5 Man squad 1 with heavy flamer, the rest with various weapons,

(I would like to get the two terminator squads mounted in landraiders but at 70 odd quid for each landraider I might have to pass on that!!)

Chaos Dreadnought
Chaos Dreadnought

Troops

Deathguard 7 man sqd x2 flamers & Powerfist champion
Deathguard 7 man sqd x2 melta’s & Powerfist champion
Deathguard 7 man sqd x2 Plasma’s & Powerfist champion
Deathguard 7 man sqd x2 Melta’s & Power weapon Champion
Deathguard 7 man sqd x2 Melta’s & Power weapon Champion
Deathguard 7 man sqd x2 Plasma’s & Power weapon Champion
Deathguard 7 man sqd x2 Plasma’s & Power weapon Champion

(now I know I’ve one two many squads for the normal 6 troop choices so I might disband one squad and bulk the others up to 10 a piece)

Fast Attack

Nothing!! So options:

I’m thinking of here is bikers with the mark of nurgle taking then up to toughness 6! The forgeworld conversion pack and some random bits and bob sound work grand!! I’ve even been looking at the ork bikes to use as chaos bikes as 10,000 years in the eye of terror you not gonna have “standard” looking bikes! Or doing death guard surfing on a wave of nurglings, think of pirates of the caribbean when the black pearl is going through the desert!! But I might have to look at making a master model for that and casting them up for personal use only of course!

Heavy Support

Havoc Squad 5 man with 4 melta’s

It’s a tad light in this section so again not too sure maybe some predators a nice opportunity for some funky conversion work or some of the forgeworld droney things they are classed as heavy support with death guard in the army but not sure if they’d be any good but would be something different!

so once this lot is done and dusted, I'm thinking of getting my khorne done and dusted! I've loads of berserkers!!
