Ok so the deadline has been and gone but I managed to get the three warbeasts painted for Kurt and to say he was a happy man was a bit of an understatement!
so the two earthborne flanking Mulg, I basically painted Mulg the same as the two earthbourne but when I'd finished him, I felt that there was "something" missing and even though he's got the alps as his hat it didn't feel complete (if that makes sense?)
And then it hit me like a speeding bullet....
I'd also noticed that a huge chunk of stone was missing so I figured I might as well disguise the missing bit with some tufts of grass.
Overall painting these was a nice change compared to the stuff I've been doing recently and the reaction that these have had from the local lads has been nice so a man points boost there!
So the "recipe"
Skin:
Spray Leather BrownHeavy dry brush Kemri Brown (GW Foundation)
Heavy dry brush terra earth (Vallejo)
Ink with Devlin mud
Light dry brush terra earth but building up the layers,
White Stones:
Denab Stone (GW Foundation)
Ink with Gryphone Septia (stupid bloody names!)
light drybrush/stipple Denab stone
Cloth:
Russian Green (Vallejo)
bleached bone & Russian green mixed for highlight, I did about 2/3 layers
As always the end of the month is fast approaching so the pledge gets stepped up a gear with all the 15mm flames of war stuff that I've bought this month I need to start blasting some models out and get some in the bank for the yearly trip to salute next month,
I've already spotted a couple of systems that I've got my eye on, one is....
I've liked the look of this for ages and the models are really nice, I missed the chaps at last years salute so I'll be have a look to see where I can find them and hopefully get a game in
the other thing that's got me going oohh.... is
produced by westwind, the same guys who did secrets of the third reich, this is a brand new release for salute and something tells me if its anything like SOTR then its gonna be a good game!

Operation Save the Kurtle.... Part two....
So in between entertaining the GC....
I've managed to get the earthbourne pretty much finished off, all I need is the green light from Kurt and I'll put the brush down,
I finished off the stones with a gryphone septia wash and going back over it with denab stone, some green for the wraps and do the rock on the base along with some weathering on the hands and feet.
over all once I got into the swing of doing these it wasn't too bad, however it wasn't to stop there,
The hardcore rules state that you must have a painted army so Mulg needed doing so I picked him up earlier today and started to crack on with him,
so quite pleased so far what I've managed since Sunday, and its nicely got me mojo back for painting so I'll be cranking out the 15mm Brits along with some finial touches for the 20mm Germans.

Operation Save the Kurtle.... Part one....
Whilst finishing off some stug's and panthers I was asked by one of the guys at the local shop if I'd mind help paint some trollbloods for him,
he only wanted two models done which were the earthborn dire trolls, In my head I thought no worries on that piece of piss... then Kurt said he needed them by the end of the week for the hardcore tourney! well if thats not a challenge I don't know what is!
So Kurt had stuck the fella's together and given them a leather brown spray, so that was the most time consuming part done and dusted for me!!
So I started with some Khemri brown then graveyard earth over that,
Washed it with devlin mud and then a dry brush of graveyard earth and the skin was sorted,
Then onto the stones, started with denab stone
and this is how far I got within a couple of hours,
look out for part 2!

Cutlass Crew & Trollbloods Kriel
Well Its been a real slow month painting wise so far,
With being sucked into the MMO world of starwars The Old Republic and deciding to take the plunge and start up an ebay shop supplying paint and the like time has been precious recently.
I've been making some headway into the trollbloods that I got at the end of last year and a friend gave me a load of his stuff now he's found a new "toy" to play with ;)
so the champions unit,
I've the UA to paint up to go with these guys and combining that with the champion hero that I did as my tester model its a filthy unit!
bung some stone scribes behind them maxed out on focus and the champions become armour 18 with P&S 12 once I get the UA done for these!
so the trolls are coming along nicely and once I've stripped the bits that I've been given I'll have quite a bit to play about with!
So with Nick's Cutlass Campaign about to kick off this week at the club and spurred on by Coopers post on his blog ( the mountain of metal ) with his dipped pirate girls which look really nice...
So I figured I'd better get me ass into gear and splash some paint on the Orc's that I picked up at salute last year,
So the Admiral and his three orc veterans armed to the teeth and ready to go, Just a coat of anti-shine as I've a feeling that they'll be spending most of the game lying down due to injuries.
I've another three on the way from black scorpion miniatures and it looks like he's moving over to resin for his models so I'm looking forward to comparing the cast quality with the metal ones above.
The crew that I'm going to run with for the campaign is...
Admiral:
Cutlass, Dagger, Parrot
Orc Vet #1:
2 Cutlass, Dagger
Orc Vet #2:
Cutlass, Dagger, Duelling Pistol
Orc Vet #3:
Axe, Dagger, Duelling Pistol
Orc #1:
Cutlass, Dagger, Ships Pistol
Orc #2:
Cutlass, Dagger, Ships Pistol
Orc #2:
Cutlass, Dagger, Ships Pistol
and that lot rolls in at $496, now I'm expecting to recruit the goblins as the campaign goes on, with the few games that I've played so far recruiting orc's & vets is quite rare hence so many to start with.

35 points of Skorne done & some micro armour action!
Well its been a busy week to say the least!
The 35 point chain gang Skorne tier list is finished, All I need to do is get a couple of games under my rather large belt and I'll increase it to a 50 point list, but more on that another time,
the micro armour T90's have been finished, however there only 6mm so I managed to get them blasted out dead easy, and I've even been told that Spencer has based his yanks.... wonders never cease!
so onto the pics....
The triple tag team....
Close ups of the bronzeback, a bugger to build and whilst painting it at spencers only did I realise how much lower armour it actually had which made painting it fairly simple,
Titan close up, as there pretty much both the same I've only done close ups of the one, I'm also in two minds about the banner pole, I've left it off for the time being as I've seen on many occasions when one of the lads at the club get there skorne out the banner poles have come off,
The Crocmen, now there where quite tricky to get right as I couldn't quite get the skin to look the way I wanted it but I think in the end I got there so I'm quite happy with them, might dull down the red on the unit leader though?
I put a bit of red wash round the mouths and gives it that just eaten look!!
So the whole lot minus the caster which is currently sitting on display at the local shop, over all the colour scheme looks good and with splashes of red still make it look "skorney"
Pictures from last week at the club using some home grown rules that a chap call Nick has spent the last 10 years writing!
Dan getting very excited seeing the British threatening to roll over the Russians
first turn Stef trying to suss out his rules,
T90's trying to find the local starbucks
T90's looking for doggers...
T90's on a suicide run to try and outflank the British Challenger 2 which turns out carn't be destroyed unless the russians get within 10cm! so it was balls to the wall, most of that was Dan's whispering in my ear though!
So the puffs of cotton wool are the destroyed armour both sides took a licking!
T90's "trying" to hide in a wood, there wasn't a great deal of them left after the volley from the chieftains
T90's still looking for starbucks after getting rid of some light tanks
trying to be sneaky and rape the reteating British...
So over all the game was pretty good and it attrached alot of intrest, so carn't wait to get another game in!
As long as I keep away from the following I should be onto a winner this month!
Cheers for reading & comments welcome as always,

More Skorne & something a little differant....
Alrighty!
So with my new found passion for Skorne the 35 point force is coming along nicely, this week I've managed to get the pain givers and the pain giver grand master flash turntable tormentor done as well , I slipped the second agoniser as well and I'm about half way though the warlock Rasheth aka FB.
The pictures are a little poor this week as one of my bulbs went and I've not had the chance to pick another one up yet, but one with the shots
so the grandmaster flash...
really enjoyed painting this model, nice and simple and the alternative colour scheme works really well on it,
basic pain giver unit, the red has come out a bit LOUD! but in real life they look pretty good to me!
The second agoniser, Ross mentioned the other day how the first one looked "wrong" not in a painting sense but as in an abused why, well that's mission accomplished! ;)
so this is whats left.... the Cyclops's are my original test models ;)
I'm waiting on the Crocmen to turn up and once I've a few games under my belt then I'll increase to 50 points, but I'm really tempted by the immortals, the guardians and the new special guy though....
now the something different is to do with a game that Dave wants to play, he sent me a text a while back seeing if I'd fancy playing Dr Who, now I'll be honest I was a bit humm... "ok" at first but after a little thinking I thought bugger to it lets give it a crack.
Now it turns out that you can have UNIT which is basically normal military guys, I then remembered that I've some 28mm modern Russians kicking about along with BMP so after a bit of digging I found them and decided to crack on with what I've got,
Well it turns out I've more than I remember so Coops is bring some bases for me (metal 25mm penny washers) so that I can get the rest sorted,
So these are from the assault group and are the MVD with aksu 74's but I'll just use them as an urban assault group, spetnaz or what ever they look cool and that's good enough for me,
Painting these guys was a step into the unknown as I've only done "real" stuff before in the form of flames of war and that was 15mm so pretty easy to get it looking nice, these being 28mm I just winged it really and I'm happy with the finished result,
now previously I've stated that I'm going to be cutting back on the systems that I play etc... well that's gone out the bloody window already!!
A new chap has come down the club asking for play testers for his home grown rules system, in 6mm! so epic scale now I've had a mooch about and the models are bloody cool! and yep I've claimed the Russians already!
so once I've got the shopping list from the rest of the guys it shouldn't be long before loads of little T90's are on the painting table!

Hordes Skorne & a blast from the past!
Its been a bit of a slow month as I've not really painted much (well for me) I had a couple of games of warmachine last week and got my ass royally handed to me, which has only made me more determined to break out the "Inner Anton" and get my game face on,
I'm stepping away from the cryx for a bit as I've become a bit bored of them and going to focus on my skorne, now I've not really played as a horde player plenty of time against them so it should be something that I can look forward to and hopefully enjoy and try and win a few games!
so I'm going to run with the following 35 point list for a couple of games to see how I get on with them, now the idea was planted in my head by a fellow warmachine player who has a knack of coming up with filthy lists...
"chain gang tier list" 35 points
Dominar Rasheth +5 warbeast points
Bronzeback titan +9 (-1 for tier one benefit)
Titan Gladiator +7 (-1 for tier one benefit)
Titan Gladiator +7 (-1 for tier one benefit)
Agonizer x2
Paingiver beast handlers (4 man unit)
Paingiver task master
Gatorman Posse (3 man unit)
Totem Hunter (it wasn't until stef asked if I could have a totem hunter in the list did I check! well I can have units but not solo's, so I've 3 points spare!)
so its about as subtle as a brick in a handbag the chain gang theme really pays off at 35 points with 3 titans! both agonizers fully loaded with fury and an extra 2" deployment with the three titans, the gatormen get +2" movement on there first turnand the totem hunter there for a laugh! see above!
so I suppose the question is what would you do for a 35 point skorne list??
so I painted these guys up that I've had for a while is the best way to describe it! the colour scheme was suggested to me by Spencer a while back and I really like the contrast rather than the usual bright red of the skorne,
and I also decided to paint an agonizer...
I wanted the model to look well abused and this is where the washes really came in useful with giving it a grimey look and bloodied as well...
The Blast from the past is a case that I found whilst decorating the nursery.....
now these boys are really really old! working it out via the medium of ex girlfriends/nutters I'm guessing at about 8-9 years old? I remember I was working for GW when I had these and the Phat cats club was at the original venue. I suppose these will come out if and when the necrons get a revamp....
