After reading an post on banner making Chris aka Suneokun at pathfinder very kindy sent me a couple of banners that I could use for the blog replacing the standard version,
So thank you very much Chris it looks tip top!
I've also been working of the emperors children over the last few days and managed to get the converted sorcerer finished as well, I'm really chuffed how its came out the colours are crisp and clean compared to the death guard and the contrast between the two will complement them on the table top,
I've a 5 man noise marine squad that is about half done so depending if I hit the vodka tonight with the guys from the gaming club I'll see if I can make a dent on them tommorrow,
All shiney and painted
Does my bum look big with this HUGE jumpack?
Close up of the chest and detail work, I tend to go for above table top level painting so it's not gonna win me any golden daemons and I won't even bother with Comon, but for me its cracking!
Close up of the base, I've used a differant style of flock for this guy one that I mixed up for my flames of war russians, the ruined statue I've used a watered down green wash to make it look slightly differant rather than a slab of grey.
Comments welcome as always,
Thanks,

Emperor's Children / Noise marine paint test
Well only after converting the up and coming Noise marines did I start thinking about how I was going to paint them?
So rather than screwing up a normal noise marine I had a dig about and found a loyalist who was asking to be painted in the patron colours of slaanesh!
So the top half was done like....
Liche Purple
Wet Brush Hormaguant Purple
Really light dry brush of Tentacal pink
Ink wash of Leviathan purple
The Bottom Half was done like....
Hormaguant Purple
Heavy dry brush of tentacal pink
Mix of tentacal and skull white for the edges of the armour
Both are quite quick and so I'll be able yo do my usual standard of pumping stupid amounts in a short period of time!!
The metals where done like.....
Normal Metal -
Bolt Gun metal
Badbab Ink
Gold -
Brassy Brass (Vallejo game colour)
Shining Gold
Shinging gold & Chain mail for the highlight
Ogyrn flesh ink
So the magic question is....
Do you prefer the Bright pinky legs style or the darkish pinky purple chest & shoulder?
The other bits are to give you an idea of the look I'm going for!
So Vote away at the top of the page and which one wins I'll go for it in that scheme!!
So these are the models that you'll be choosing the future paint scheme of.....

Deamons.... Do they Work?
Well I've managed to get a couple of games under my belt with the deamons now, so the question is what do I really think of them???
Pro's-
Con's -
Bloodletters everyone's favourite daemon...
10 man unit - assuming 6 get into combat with a charge your looking at 18 attacks hitting the average "joe" on 3's and killing on 3's your pretty much gonna munch whatever you hit par invunerable saves,
15 man unit - assuming 13 get into combat with a charge your looking at 39 attacks! enough said!
but the 10 man unit is more flexable with regards to hiding in cover and movement etc... so squad size is crucial!
Now the pro's & the con's out weigh each other there are some really cool things about the army like the assault group an a 3+ that'll keep you on your toes! and some things will fustrate you like following the normal rules for deepstrike i.e. you can do bugger all for one turn!
The list that I've been running with recently has been 2K -
Great Unclean one (A)
The Masque
Herald of Khorne mounted on Jugger and shiney upgrades (A)
2 Fiends
11 Bloodletters
10 Bloodletters
15 Deamonettes
10 Plague bearers with Icon (A)
10 Plague bearers with Icon (A)
10 Horrors with the changling
7 Flesh hounds with Karanak (A)
Soulgrinder upgraded with Phlegm (A)
Daemon Prince with various goodies (A)
(the (A) is the assualt group)
So to answer the question????
Yes they do work, you've gotta be bloody good to use them or bloody lucky! some say its the same thing!
Would you agree or disagree? Comments welcome as always,
thanks,
Pro's-
- They are a "rare" army, I.e. not that many people would consider them, I've been told in the warhammer circuit they are pure filth and you can see that from the heat standings.
- Conversion Factor is unlimited! after all they are from the warp so anything goes, I'm not a huge conversion person many due to time and money but I'm sure there are some funky armies out there!
- Army special rules, now these are so random that you've got to be a bit of a risk taker to even consider fielding them, and as your following the rules for deepstrike if you roll well then its all sound as a pound roll high scatter and lots of random direction well you could be in for a surprise!
- Adapting to the situation is a challange to say the least, if you like you gun line/drop pod spearhead etc.. then fair enough, from a tactical point of view these will make you think!
- Eternal warrior and the "powers & abilities" are not classed as psychic powers makes me laugh my ass off against other armies!! specially the new nids and the darkness of the warp (the 3D6 thing?) we're from the warp so rassppp.... LOL
- HQ choices... prior to the puppies this was the only army as far as I was aware that you could take 4 HQ, superb!! plenty of chin scratching choices in this part of the book, lovely!
Con's -
- Fearless its a blessing and a curse! ok so I can stand there with my wanger out in front of a superhard shooty unit and laugh however in combat if it goes tits up your boned on the addational saves that you'll need to make!
- Infantry heavy force, you deepstrike in the wrong part of the board you'll spend most of the game trying to get to the action, and only one "real" shooty thing which is the soul grinder and that soon becomes the priority target for heavy weapons, and against mech armies you could struggle but I'm yet to play any?
- Some of the stat lines are well... intresting to say the least, I don't know how they compare to their warhammer counterparts but some of them seem very weak and some overpowered,
- Army selection is quite challanging, i.e. you can only have 6 troop to any other army thats plenty but for a daemon host your casulty rate will be high, in fact very high so you can either take large units, 15 is the max that I would personally go, or fill up the troop selection with units about the 10 man size, example is...
Bloodletters everyone's favourite daemon...
10 man unit - assuming 6 get into combat with a charge your looking at 18 attacks hitting the average "joe" on 3's and killing on 3's your pretty much gonna munch whatever you hit par invunerable saves,

but the 10 man unit is more flexable with regards to hiding in cover and movement etc... so squad size is crucial!
- Now this one might be strange, but the changling (the unit upgrade for horrors) is way too cheap! angainst low leadership armies this guy would be great, leadership 8 and above aka marines not that useful
- And whilst I'm on army selection... Elites, Fast Attack & Heavy support are a bit sparse choice wise, some nice things in there I personally like the fiends of slaanesh, however if you go OTT with your daemon prince he'll end up costing more than a great unclean one!
Now the pro's & the con's out weigh each other there are some really cool things about the army like the assault group an a 3+ that'll keep you on your toes! and some things will fustrate you like following the normal rules for deepstrike i.e. you can do bugger all for one turn!

Chaos Daemons AHOY!
After some cracking feedback from my last post it gave me the incentive to carry on with the painting and this week has been a very productive week!!
So I finished off the rhino....
And got some Fiends done.....
Now with these I'm still looking at them with the "do I like them" look on my face! they kinda remind me of the early 90's painting of 40K which is still quite amusing in a old school way, they are completely differant to what I would normally paint and I used the yellow as a test if I ever wanted to do imperial fists or something that was mainly yellow.
A unit of Bloodletters that I found still in there shrink wrapped box!
After using two units of these in a game earlier in the week I've decided that these guys are rock hard so have ordered a herald on a jugger, so that should bump up the combat factor of the deamons, along with the soul grinder that I picked up in the week.
Some nurgling bases that I've been meaning to finish off for ages...
So just the deamon prince to finish and thats the nurgle deamony part of this army done and dusted until Coops brings some plague bearers that he's stripped for me.
and the Scibor deamons that I go the other week....
These were dead easy to paint and I had a play about with the shells on the backs to see what type of effects I could get and over all I'm happy with these should fit in nicely with the rest of the guys, I'm thinking of getting some heresy minitures to mix in with the deamon units to make it more of a rag tag look...
either some of this style.. http://www.heresyminiatures.com/hm030.htm
or these as plague bearers http://www.heresyminiatures.com/hv043.htm
and a quick opbjective marker that I threw togeather...
Also in the week I got some cool bits and bobs so I'll get some pictures of what I'm doing with them up in the next couple of weeks ;)

Month end update,
Well I've had a real lazy week after blasting out all that cryx in a day, also Alien verses Predator was released so you can kiss good bye to any painting!!
I've managed to finish off the nurgle rhino, once more coat of wash and some weathering on the tracks and it'll be done, just need to decide if its worth getting another 2 or 3? We'll have to see on that one?
any way WIP pics.....
After my mumblings about the pre-heresy stuff a couple of weeks ago I decided to order some bits and bobs, the first things that came through my door were these nurglest looking deamons, might use them as champions for the deamon army that is coming along in the back ground, I picked them up from scibor miniatures some nice stuff if you do dwarfs and all that jazz!
I also managed to convert the sorceror and he's ready to be undercoated and started on..
These are currently being worked on...
going to do them a really bright yellow with a equally horriblely bright second colour for the fur etc... I love painting deamons because you can throw the laws of colour circle out of the window!
and this is a little teaser of what'll be coming in the next couple of weeks!
so onto the "pledge"
this month has been a really lazy one....
Bought Painted
22 16
A differance of -6
So a bit more of an effort is required!! LOL

WINNER! Blood & Oil Gifts for Geeks Warmachine Torney
Well what a day!
Not only did the fastest painted army in the world take best painted army for the Gifts for Geeks Blood and Oil warmachine Torney, I walked away with top spot winning all three of my games and giving me highest placed faction for the Cryx!
so this is what I got...
Some nice shiney medals and a £10 gift voucher for the shop to spend which I'll probley spend on some more cryx!
I'll get some better pictures of the army done (i.e. I'll ask Stef who has a funky set up)
for those that might be intrested this was the list that I was running with:
Goreshade The Bastard
Stalker bonejack
Nightwretch bonejack
Slayer helljack
2 lots of scrap thralls
unit of Baneknights
1 Pistol wraith
1 Machine wraith
and that is my 20 point list,
Very brief Summary of the Games
Game 1:
Against Hamish with Epic Vlad a shit load of ironfang pikemen with a unit attachment and a Behmouth (huge thing with loads of guns!), Mission was no mans land and in the end I only won it my sending goreshade in against Vald and doing the killing blow, but bugger me the ironfang pikemen where hard to get rid of!!
Game 2:
Against my arch-nemisis Lee, with the caster that I hate with a passion (well I despise menoth really!) Feora, with two castigator's and a reckoner and a choir, the mission was capture and control, the machine wraith earnt its gold in this game and the free bane thralls took down the reckoner in one round of combat with some good rolls, it was close to the line when feora tried to charge goreshade but was taken out by a free strike as she left combat, so a very very close game!!
Game 3:
Well this was the battle royal against Ross with his NNM metal (un)painted Legion of everblight, the mission was kill the caster it was very bloody with bodies everywhere and fluffed dice rolls on both sides, but his caster (the name escapes me) went down to a slayer using soul gate, however only did I discover that I couldn't have activated the jack on the turn that he teleported, but if I'd known that then the trample move would have been employed and pretty much the same result would have occoured.
So apart from the minor mistake in game three, I had three cracking games and coming first was a bonus but wasn't an expected result!!

The army painting machine is green light for go!
Well I knew that I had a Mk2 warmachine torney coming up I was a tad surprised when I got told on Wednesday that its this Sunday!
So with me still reeling in shock from last nights game with Spencer which was bloody good fun, and hats off to him the bitch slap move from his warcaster was pure filth! (but really really clever!)
I've jigged my army about a bit and decided to see if I could walk in on sunday with a nicely painted force, with my weekend stacked with going out and the usual antic's so this morning I pushed the deamons and whats left of the deathguard to one side and grabbed this little lot..
So I've 6 bane thralls, a stalker and goreshade to get done,
so with the magic morning liquid pumping through my veins (that's tea before you ask!) I decided to do the stalker and the bane thralls at the same time then work on gorshade once I'd properly woken up!
A mere 1 hour later I was at this point with the little monkeys...
so the metal parts of the bane thralls was done, including the brass on parts of the armour to break up the model,
the stalker which I've converted last night so I could crack on with it today, has the brass done on it, as its quite a small model souldn't be too hard to get finished,
so a quick fag and another cuppa tea I cracked on....
And the bane thralls where ready for the wash stage same as the stalker..
However with the best laid plans something does go wrong, I'd ran out of black wash and the gryphonne sepia was looking dangerously low! so it was like a scene from lock stock when Avi comes over from New York
I need some more ink!
Whilst driving over to the local shop I then got a phone call for an invite for a pub lunch, well it'd be rude to say no, and I needed some breakfast anyway!
I'd got the first coat of ink done on the bane thralls as well as the stalker, and whilst waiting for that to dry decided to repair the bane knights as some shields and arms had come off and make a start on Goreshade
So the metal was done, as well as the brass parts of his armour, and I'd part based him as the sand would have to dry over night but wouldn't get in the way of painting him,
now I went a bit arty farty on Goreshade, by putting scorpion green in the rune carvings and for the symbol on his cape as he was something thing to do the retribution I used there rune glow colours for a bit of contrast
So by the time I'd done Goreshade the second coat of ink was about dry so there good as done, just need to base them and they'll be ready to rock and roll!
So one finished stalker
and one unit of bane thralls done, so if you take out the 2ish hours that I was out for not bad for about 7 hours work.
Update!!
Ok so after a stella night down the boozer with Jay & Dave and looking at pretty guns during the day then a surprise by two lots of relatives, there finially done!!
One thing that has occoured to me is that its a lot of models for 20 points!! oh well should surprise a few people ;)
